Kendrick Construction is a family-owned, design-build firm known for quality, transparency, and an exceptional client experience. Founded by Mark Kendrick, one of Beaufort County's most sought-after framers before becoming a licensed home builder, our company is built on a deep understanding of how homes should be constructed - starting with the bones and finishes with the details.
Born and raised in the Lowcountry, Mark remains personally involved in every build, ensuring each home meets our exacting standards. Our clients value our integrity, clear communication, and a hands-on approach from start to finish.
Meet Our team
Mark Kendrick - Owner
Born and raised in Beaufort County, native Mark Kendrick brings over 20 years of contractor experience to Kendrick Construction. His local knowledge of the area brings a tremendous value to his clients due to his relationships and experience with various subcontractors, land developers, town officials, and other important personnel.
A framer by trade, Mark has unique ideas to maximize square footage, ensure structural soundness and a vision to foresee and countermeasure issues in the early stages of the construction process. Mark communicates closely with architects and engineers throughout the design and construction phases.
When Mark isn’t on a Kendrick Construction site, you may find him volunteering his time with local organizations, out on the water, or around town with his wife, Anna, and two daughters Ava and Abigail. Mark and his family live in Bluffton

Katie Thompson - Director of Business Dev. & Preconstruction
Katie graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, in 2005, where she competed on the college equestrian team and competed at the national level. Shortly after graduation, she began her career in real estate on Hilton Head Island, building a strong foundation in the Lowcountry market.
She spent 15 years in commercial and residential property management, overseeing leasing and operations for multiple office and retail properties, managing several condominium associations, and handling the management, maintenance, and leasing of more than 60 long-term rental homes. In addition, Katie worked for a custom home builder in the area for five years, further deepening her expertise in the construction and building process.
Katie is happily married and the proud mom of her daughter, Mackenzie. On weekends, you can often find her cheering at Mackenzie’s competitions or enjoying time with her family and their dog, Chloe, at the Colleton River Sandbar.
Coleman Bell - Field Manager
Coleman was originally licensed as a general contractor in the state of South Carolina in 1975 and has been working construction in the Beaufort, Bluffton, and Hilton Head Island area for over 50 years. As a young man, Coleman was one of the best framers and carpenters in the Lowcountry in South Carolina. Soon after he received his general contractor licensed, he hired a young framer by the name of Mark Kendrick to do most of his framing, the rest is history.
Coleman is married to his wife of over 20 years, Terri, and they share six children and 14 grandchildren together. In his spare time Coleman enjoys working on projects around his house as well as fishing the May River, Colleton River, and other local waterways with his family. When asked to describe his career, he simply says "it's been a lot of fun."
Mike Flategraff – Field Manager
Born in Minnesota, with extreme work ethics , Mike fled south to enjoy our amazing warm climate. He is vastly skilled in project management methodologies and tools, with 26 years in the construction field. A strategic thinker and problem solver, with a track record of successful project delivery, Mike has a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to quality and excellence. A strong communicator with a proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively, his team leading skills are a great asset to Kendrick Construction. Always smiling & seeking the positive outlook, our team wouldn’t be complete without Mike!
In Mike’s spare time he loves enjoying outdoor activities & sports with his beautiful wife Nancy, daughter Michaela & son Liam. Coaching youth football and volunteering in the Cub Scouts keeps Mike busy. (Don’t ask him to cheerlead though… he leaves that to his wife & daughter!)
Kris Stevely – Office Manager
Dreams do come true! Originally from the small town of Mexico Missouri, Kris and her husband Bryan dreamt of living in the Low Country! After spending 20 years in Ohio, the happy move came in 2018! With over 30+ years business experience in auto manufacturing and real estate, coupled with a variety of other career experiences, Kris has a vast array of business knowledge in all dynamics.
Kris & Bryan are the proud parents of 4 sons and grandparents to 8 beautiful grandchildren.
When not in the office, they love to spend free time enjoying the sunshine and outdoors, complete with golf & walking the beaches of the Low Country!
